BEING ESSCENTIAL

What does it mean to be essential?

The word essential is used to describe something  that is “absolutely necessary; indispensable”

This year we were introduced to the term “essential worker”, used to describe one who can go to work, while those who were considered “non-essential” were required to abide by mandates to stay home during this global pandemic.

Early on during this public health crisis, we recognized the confusion caused by the onslaught of misinformation in the media and on social media, so to combat this we issued a challenge to the 6,000+ nurses in our community to “Flip the Script”  - and to spread a message of hope and wellness out into their sphere of influence. We set out to shine a spotlight on wellness that would transcend this pandemic.  After all, as nurses, we had been teaching hand hygiene, social distancing when sick, and taking your vitamins (and using essential oils) for years!!

In keeping with this theme, now, we are flipping the script on who we call esscential!  And spoiler alert, we think everyone in this is essential. If we are going to move forward in the safest, healthiest, most productive manner possible - we need to understand that we are all essential.

  • As you wear a mask...
  • As you care for your loved ones, wash your hands, honor social distancing, provide nourishment, go to work ....
  • As you create and learn...
  • As you figure out how to navigate education for your kids...
  • As you teach...
  • As you figure it all out....

... You are ESSCENTIAL!

We may be experiencing this time very differently, it's time to agree though, that we are all essential.
